What are the available sizes for hazmat and battery storage buildings?

Polystar offers a variety of sizes to meet your energy storage system and/or lithium-ion battery storage needs. Storage buildings are available in 8-foot, 10-foot or 12-foot depths with a maximum length of 30 feet. If you require a custom size building, please contact our sales department for additional information on our custom sizes.

What level of protection does the fire rating offer? For how long?

Our prefabricated storage battery containment systems offer a unique design that satisfies the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Polystar hazardous spill containment buildings can be customized with an optional 2-hour fire rating, 4-hour fire rating or a non-fire rating (noncombustible).

How long does it take to install the hazmat and battery storage building?

Installing the storage building is an efficient process. Installation can be done during truck offload, unless there are electrical hook-ups. Those are the responsibility of the customer, as is seismic anchoring.

What type of preparation is necessary for installation?

Site preparation includes ensuring there is a clean, flat surface on which to drop the building. Additionally, please prepare electrical connections and/or water connections for optional sprinklers, if applicable.

Why do you use a sump foundation?

While our competitors typically use a steel foundation, Polystar’s hazmat spill buildings use a sump foundation constructed with a heavy-duty I-beam. Our integrated sump foundation provides superior strength that is vital to hazmat storage buildings. Polystar uses an integrated sump to ensure that all potential spills are captured.

Polystar offers several options to help you customize a hazmat containment solution that meets your needs. Various doorway sizes are available for man doors, double doors and roll-up doors. Any combination of doors are available in the following sizes:

• Man doors – 36” x 80”
• Double doors – 60” x 80”
• Roll-up doors – 8’, 10’ or 12’

We also offer lighting options, including no lights, interior lights, exterior lights or both. If you require fire suppression, we offer optional dry-fire suppression or a fire extinguisher.
