Motor pools, fuel points, and forward sites move a lot of fuel through a lot of vehicles. Much of that happens on gravel, sand, or frozen ground with no permanent infrastructure. One failed fitting or punctured bladder can soak the site, halt operations, and start a costly cleanup. Military vehicle secondary containment keeps that fuel inside a berm so the mission keeps moving. For years, Polystar has supplied the United States military and other government agencies with secondary containment and spill prevention products that support SPCC compliance. Every system is made in the USA and built to deploy fast, take abuse, and move when the unit does. Explore our full range of military and government containment systems.
CAMEL Tri-Star®: Tactical Truck Spill Containment
The CAMEL Tri-Star® gives tactical truck spill containment a hardened, drive-in footprint for fuel transfer, maintenance, and staging. Tactical trucks and tankers roll in over steel ramps set across the end walls. The tri-linear walls absorb heavy static and dynamic loads from loaded vehicles.Tri-Star MAX sections bolt together and seal at each joint, so a unit can size its containment area to its largest vehicle. When the unit relocates, the sections unbolt and ship to the next motor pool or fuel point. Each section weighs about 1,300 pounds, so plan for a small crew and lifting equipment during setup.
Military Mobile Refueler Spill Prevention and Fuel Pad Containment
Mobile refuelers carry fuel to aircraft, ground equipment, and generators, which puts them at the center of most military fuel transfers. When a refueler parks between missions, it needs a containment area that captures leaks and drips from valves, hoses, and tank seams. Polystar berms and pads give refuelers a defined place to park and transfer fuel inside containment.Learn more about mobile refueler containment systems and how they fit into a facility SPCC plan.
Military Fuel Bladder Containment: Bladder Dike MPE®
Fuel bladders store large volumes in the field, and a bladder failure releases that volume all at once. The Bladder Dike MPE® is a heavy-duty, surface-mounted, reusable system that surrounds the bladder and holds fuel inside its walls. It is built to absorb the impact of a catastrophic bladder failure without losing fuel. The system includes:
Straight and corner wall struts, each 4 feet long and 36 inches tall
A locking connector system built into the wall struts
A heavy-duty cabling web assembly with steel D-rings
A flexible fuel containment liner held in place with liner lockers
Every component stacks on two aircraft pallets for airlift and transport. Crews assemble the Bladder Dike MPE without special tools or lifting equipment. Because it is not secured to the ground, it can be used long term or temporarily on any of these surfaces:
Parking lots
Sand
Rocky, muddy, or frozen soil
Concrete
Portable Military Containment Systems for Every Mission
Fuel is only part of the job. Polystar military fuel containment berms and pads also contain:
Aerospace ground equipment (A.G.E.) and generators
Mess hall cooking oils and grease
Gray water and black water
Hazardous waste and heavy oils
Diesel, gasoline, and other petroleum products
These portable military containment systems set up on existing ground and move without demolition. That makes them a fit for permanent installations and also for expeditionary operations, remote sites, disaster readiness staging, and emergency response units.
SPCC Requirements on Military Installations
Military installations follow the same federal oil spill rules as private facilities. The Army’s guidance on the Oil Pollution Prevention regulation, Public Works Technical Bulletin 200-1-38 (2006), states that “all U.S. Army facilities with fuel tanker trucks or oil-containing electrical equipment must have an SPCC Plan in place.” Secondary containment for vehicles, refuelers, and bulk storage is a core part of that plan. Review the government requirements for secondary containment to learn more.
Frequently Asked Questions About Military Vehicle Secondary Containment
Do military installations need an SPCC plan?
Yes, when they meet the federal oil storage thresholds. Army technical guidance (PWTB 200-1-38) states that all U.S. Army facilities with fuel tanker trucks or oil-containing electrical equipment must have an SPCC plan in place.
How is the Bladder Dike MPE transported?
All Bladder Dike MPE components stack on two aircraft pallets. The system can travel by air or ground and assembles on site without special tools or lifting equipment.
Can military containment systems move with a unit?
Yes. Tri-Star sections unbolt for transport to the next site, and the Bladder Dike MPE is not secured to the ground. Both systems relocate without demolition or excavation.
What liquids can military fuel containment berms hold?
Polystar military berms contain diesel, gasoline, and other petroleum products. They also hold cooking oils, gray water, black water, and hazardous waste. Liners are matched to the stored liquid.

"I have been installing Poly Dike MPE Systems for well over a year. My business requires a system that ships easily and installs quickly with minimal personnel and tools yet provides robust spill containment in a professional looking package. The MPE System not only meets, but exceeds my expectations in each of these areas ... All-in-all, I guess what’s most impressive is that after a single installation, every customer of mine now requires that I use the Poly Dike MPE for his job site. Nothing speaks more to the confidence me and my customers have in the MPE system than that."

“I just received an email this morning stating that it was fabulous. Two guys set it up and it worked perfectly. The customer is extremely satisfied and grateful. Thank you for supporting this requirement and ensuring it was all you claimed it would be. Great asset to have!”
